About the Camps
The BYU Youth Cybersecurity Camps take place in July and are free for students ages 13 - 18. Due to a generous grant from GenCyber, Dr. Giboney and the CSRL student team are excited to host two cybersecurity camps this summer (2021). Each is a week-long series of learning activities designed to introduce students to various cybersecurity topics. We aim to make each workshop interesting and interactive.
The BYU IT and Cybersecurity Department hosted our first Girls' Cybersecurity Camp in 2015. Nearly 40 girls attended for four days to learn about a variety of introductory cybersecurity topics. The camp was open for ages 14-18 and was funded by generous sponsorship from Microsoft and Facebook. Pre and post-surveys showed significant growth in interest with over 80% of attendees wanting to keep learning about cybersecurity.
Thanks to funding from GenCyber, we have been able to expand our summer offerings to include both a Girls' Camp and a Boys' Camp for the summer of 2021. If you are interested in participating, please fill out the appropriate registration below.
Camp runs from 8:00AM - 5PM every day. We do not provide housing for attendees.

We are proud of our hand-on workshops and activities. For example, in 2016 our password security workshop had attendees write a simple password cracker to better understand how computers can be used to attack weak passwords. For our more experienced attendees, an advanced track aims to both entertain and educate. Topics are always varied and diverse, taught by students in the IT&C program, with mentors on hand for one-on-one help. No prior computing knowledge is necessary to participate. If you can use a tablet or smartphone, you are welcome to sign up!
Thank you to GenCyber for sponsoring the camps this year!
Note: The surveys linked on the poster are the initial interest survey not official registration. If you have only filled out the initial interest survey, you are not registered for the camp. Registration is linked above.
