In early May, 2016, 16 individuals met at the Granite Technical Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah. With representatives from four Utah Colleges, the Utah State Department of Education, School Districts, Schools and local IT Security companies the group discussed how to bring cybersecurity to High School education in the State of Utah.
The first meeting started by discussing Cybersecurity competitions and how these could be brought to the schools via various programs such as the USAF Cyber Patriot program and NSA GenCyber. A discussion evolved that focussed on seeding cybersecurity accross the curriculum in K-12 education.
While in early days, significant interest has already been shown in developing this further. Keep an eye on https://moodle.cybersecurityutah.tech as this progresses. Contact utah-ctf at googlegroups.com with questions or feedback.
