Welcome to BYU’s best major, Cybersecurity. You’ve come to an awesome place at BYU. Cybersecurity is one of the newest majors, and one of the most needed as well! Whether this is your first semester or your last, rest assured, students from all walks of life find themselves at home in our major. So, what is Cybersecurity?
On July 10th, members of the BYU Cyberia Capture the Flag team consisting of three BYU Cybersecurity students and one BYU-Idaho Computer Information Technology student competed in the 5th Edition of the ENOWARS Attack/Defense Competition. Led by Senior Micheal Erickson and his experience as a member of the BYU CCDC (Cyber Collegiate Defense Competition) team, the team placed 22nd out of 54 international teams. Rounding out the group were Sophomore Justin Applegate and Juniors Ian Cook and Kayden Payne.

The teacher training week kicked off the first of three summer cybersecurity camps. Educators expanded the tools in their cyber pockets, ready to pass on their new knowledge to their upcoming students for the year.

These vulnerabilities need protection, so the youth must be prepared with how to protect: they need to know cybersecurity.
With one million cybersecurity jobs available in the United States and a 100 percent placement rate post-graduation for alumni of the Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology, demand for a cybersecurity major is high.
