Collegiate Cyber Defense Competitions are designed to provide a realistic scenario for students to demonstrate their abilities and learn new skills. Student teams are known as Blue Teams or incident responders. The teams must work to keep critical services online, fend off a professional Red Team of malicious hackers and respond to business injects from management. While capable teams come from a variety of academic disciplines, there is no preparation quite like a major in Information Technology.
Time to Compete
IT students from the BYU Cybersecurity Lab have been competing in CCDC competitions since 2012. Their team is known as Team Autolock. They have placed:

Getting Involved - Students
Places on the CCDC team are highly coveted and require the utmost commitment to both curricular and extra-curricular learning. While academic performance is important, candidates that can demonstrate an ability to work well under pressure, communicate with team members, and enjoy the frantic pace of cybersecurity at it's most unfair are most likely to make the team
